Care Support Specialist - Women

Light of Life Ministries is a leading non-profit in Pittsburgh. We seek guest services team members who are outgoing, empathetic, and persuasive to serve as Care Support Specialists in our Women's Shelter. These individuals will work with people in varied circumstances related to homelessness, recovery, and mental illness. Multiple shifts are available. Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations of our Women's Emergency Shelter, Meal Ministry, as well as other associated outreach functions.
• Direct clients and guests to services during their visits to the shelter.
• Monitor the building and its residents.
• Aid in transporting clients or making arrangements for their transport.
• Data entry of notes and statistics into a computer system.
• Participate in the ministry of Light of Life Rescue Mission and walk alongside clients sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through actions and words.
• Resolve all issues in ways that promote the principles of Light of Life.
• Practice effective stewardship of all resources.
• Subscribe to and embrace Light of Life's Statement of Faith, Values, and Principles.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with diverse groups of clients and volunteers.
• Must be able to handle crisis and unexpected situations with calm and clear thinking.
• Must model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting, and a self-evaluative lifestyle.
• PA Driver's License with clean driving record required.
• Computer literate.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of drug & alcohol recovery and mental illness preferred.
• Must not use or consume controlled substances like marijuana, even when prescribed by a physician.
