Care Partner (Adult Float Pool) Nights - VUH

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is a leading healthcare provider in Nashville, Tennessee. The VUH Inpatient Float Pool seeks Night Shift Care Partners to join its team at the VUH Adult Hospital.

Shift

Full-time Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am (three 12-hour shifts/week). Shifts rotate throughout the week with a weekend requirement. Schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs. Night shift employees must attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment.

Position Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
• One of the following:
  • Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical)
  • Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
  • Minimum of one year of recent (within the past two years) experience as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician
• Two plus years of recent (within the last six months) direct patient care in a hospital environment
• Minimum of one year of recent (within the past two years) experience in Med/Surg and/or ICU

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Facilitate efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards
• Serve as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards

Technical Capabilities

• Planning & Organizing (Fundamental Awareness): Anticipates basic resource needs, identifies discrete tasks, sets priorities, defines dependencies, schedules activities, meets deadlines, and organizes work for own assignments and responsibilities
• Appropriately matches equipment and capital resources to task demands
• Prepares and presents clear and accurate status reports on projects and assignments
