Care Corps Trainee (Cohort 7)

About the role

The Care Corps trainees will complete a 7‑week training program preparing them to start a fulfilling job in the behavioral mental health field as a Psychiatric Social Health Technician. The training program will be a mix of classroom learning, use of clinical simulation labs, crisis prevention and other in‑depth training at NYC Health + Hospitals and Project Renewal locations. Trainees will receive a stipend for the training hours at NYC Health + Hospitals, obtain certifications, and receive assistance with the job application and hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Attend 4 weeks of classroom training.
• Attend 3 weeks of clinical simulation lab and in‑depth training at NYC Health + Hospitals locations.
• Actively engage in learning and obtain required certificates.
• Apply for a Psychiatric Social Health Technician position with NYC Health and Hospitals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months’ experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Proof of COVID‑19 and flu vaccinations.
• Formal enrollment offer for Project Renewal’s Care Corps Program for Cohort 6 (only candidates with an offer may apply).

Pay

Salary range: $17.00 per hour (stipend for training hours).
