Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive ultrasound exams following established protocols to verify, plan, set up, perform, and report appropriate examinations.
- Verifies patient identity and informs and observes the patient during the procedure to ensure patient education, cooperation, and safety.
- Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement.
- Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests.
- Completes and records all testing information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
- Ensures critical results are reported promptly and accurately, following established policy.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, and other center personnel in a pleasant and informative manner.
- Makes recommendations to supervisor on related duties, policies, and procedures.
- Enhances teamwork environment by showing motivation, enthusiasm, and acceptance of responsibility.
- Engages in problem-solving in difficult situations and seeks assistance when appropriate.
- Demonstrates understanding of individual performance impact on the team and seeks to mentor others.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area, including patient areas after each use.
- Cleans and maintains all equipment according to Hospital Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Notifies supervisor of stocking needs and equipment issues.
- Takes responsibility for lab opening and closing procedures when appropriate.
- Identifies personal learning needs and attends in-services, lab, and departmental meetings for professional growth.
- Strives to increase proficiency in testing and other lab procedures.
- Suggests new, more efficient, or economical techniques, procedures, and processes.
Echo Sonographer II
- Includes all skills of Sonographer Level 1 plus Strain & Pedoff, Basic 3D, and Stress Echo.
- Consistently takes initiative to develop professionally with a positive attitude and increased engagement.
- Demonstrates High-Reliability Organization (HRO) culture by identifying patient safety issues.
- Assists with IAC ASE membership, attends Echo Conference, and serves as a preceptor.
- Completes CVT PACT.
Vascular Tech II
- Includes all skills of Vascular Tech I plus Venous Insufficiency, Arterial Duplex, vein mapping, and/or radials.
- Consistently takes initiative to develop professionally with a positive attitude and increased engagement.
- Demonstrates HRO culture by identifying patient safety issues.
- SVU member, assists with IAC, and serves as a preceptor.
- Completes CVT PACT.
Requirements
- Registry through CCI or ARDMS.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Basic proficiency with computer systems.
Echo Sonographer II
- Registered Sonographer.
Vascular Tech II
- RVT or RVS certification.
