Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Associate - Locum Tenens

About the Role

Seeking a qualified Physician Assistant (PA) to provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage in a regional healthcare network. The role involves inpatient, outpatient, and operating room responsibilities, including morning rounds on adult patients, post-operative care, and assisting in surgical procedures using the Maquet system. The PA will manage approximately 15-20 patients per day, document clinical activities via the EPIC EMR system, and support a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient rounds, update care plans, and manage post-operative tasks
• Assist as first surgical assistant during procedures
• Manage outpatient consultations and maintain documentation
• Provide coverage during weekday hours and on-call during nights and weekends

Requirements

• Board certification required
• Prescriptive authority needed
• Experience with adult cardiothoracic patients and EPIC EMR
• Ability to work independently in inpatient, outpatient, and OR settings
