Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
  • Advanced certification in Transesophageal Echocardiography
  • Fellowship training in critical care of cardiac anesthesia
  • Experience with CABG and cardiac valve procedures
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus

What does a typical day look like?

You will:

  • Operate room hours are 7:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday
  • Estimated 95% of the time is involved in direct patient care
  • Acute pain management, airway assistance, CPR, sedation, and anesthesia outside of the operating room as needed, and other tasks assigned by the anesthesia in charge for the day
  • Comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services, including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations
  • Clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites
  • Primary coverage for all patients in the short stay unit, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management
  • Consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory, and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic
