Cardiac Monitor Tech Supervisor - Centralized Monitoring Unit

About the role

The Monitor Tech Supervisor is responsible for effectively and efficiently supervising the operations of cardiac monitor technicians, ensuring uncompromised safety, superior quality, memorable customer experiences, and financial stewardship under the direction of the Registered Nurse CMU Manager.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations, including staff scheduling, KRONOS management, and conflict resolution.
• Supervises cardiac monitor technicians in the Centralized Monitoring Unit (CMU).
• Ensures staff provide quality, accurate work with effective time management, including orientation, ongoing education, and workflow improvements.
• Maintains daily CMU logs with timely and accurate information.
• Implements established standards to meet quality and safety indicators, coordinating resources to uphold these standards.
• Responds to monitored patient emergencies according to escalation standards.
• Ensures rhythm strips are saved and placed appropriately per patient monitoring.
• Accurately identifies and reports arrhythmias to nursing staff.
• Ensures monitor setup and maintenance of monitoring equipment by MT staff.
• Performs quality audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Facilitates timely communication with nursing units.
• Ensures economical use of CMU equipment and supplies while providing sensitive and respectful service to cardiac patients.

• Provides supervision, motivation, coaching, and feedback to ensure the CMU meets organizational objectives.
• Fosters inclusivity, collaboration, and openness to diverse ideas and thoughts.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring and leads training for associates and new hires.
• Collaborates with the department Manager on performance management, including onboarding, training, development, and performance improvement.
• Coaches and guides Monitor Technicians to meet business needs and challenges.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (required).
• Minimum of 2 years of cardiac monitor technician experience (required).
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card (required).
• Knowledge of Windows computer environment, database use, and Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload for maximum quality, value, and service.
• Proven critical thinking skills and initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree.
• Previous experience supervising employees.

Physical Requirements

• Sedentary work involving sitting or standing for extended periods, with occasional walking, bending, or stooping.
• Light work, including lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
• Exposure to varied indoor environments (temperature, air quality, lighting, moderate noise).
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required for tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond the county perimeter, including use of a personal vehicle.
