Capital Projects Planner

About the role
We are seeking a Capital Projects Planner for our First Quality Products company located in McElhattan, PA. This position may be based out of our Central PA sites (McElhattan, PA or Lewistown, PA). The Capital Projects Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the development and execution of capital projects from inception through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and First Quality’s strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate capital forecasting updates from business units, compile data, and prepare reports for leadership.
- Support the development of capital budgets as requested by stakeholders.
- Monitor and update stakeholders on the progress and status of capital expenditure requests.
- Facilitate the creation and availability of capital projects in SAP.
- Serve as an advisor for budget management, execute change, and maintain accurate budget records.
- Lead project administrators in managing capital procurement, advising on purchase release timing and contract requirements.
- Facilitate information flow, update templates, and organize internal team members, legal resources, and external parties to ensure compliance with First Quality procurement policy.
- Monitor capital contract commitments, coordinate cross-functionally and externally to ensure requirements are satisfied.
- Facilitate high-risk international shipments and brokerage, interacting with legal counsel to ensure compliance.
- Manage capital department templates, processes, procedures, and SOP; communicate updates and provide training as required.
- Submit and coordinate capital vendor prospect forms (financial evaluation).
- Support capital vendor updates/additions as requested.
- Maintain vendor rebate and negotiation files with information provided by the business.
- Maintain release strategy for multiple business units as required; ensuring appropriate approvals for updates, enter update requests, perform user acceptance testing, and coordinate with end users.
- Summarize capital payment requests as needed, ensure appropriate approvals, and coordinate finance payment unblocks in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in planning and managing capital projects, preferably in manufacturing.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams.
- Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite; preferred familiarity with project management tools.
- Knowledge of procurement policies, contract compliance, and international shipment regulations.
