Cantonese Language Tutor - Technical Expert (Student Support Specialist I) (Part Time)
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct weekly tutorial sessions in the use/practice of the Cantonese language.
Select and add language and cultural content as appropriate to the course D2L content page and share with students.
Finalize course syllabi, including relevant dates, post to D2L, and submit to the Director and Program Coordinator prior to the start of the semester.
Schedule classes and submit the schedule to the Program Coordinator prior to the beginning of semester or session.
Record weekly student attendance in D2L.
Submit evaluations to meet academic deadlines.
Submit tutor self-evaluation to Program Coordinator at the end of the semester.
Provide timely communication and feedback to students throughout the semester.
Promote extra-curricular activities related to language development with students.
Attend program trainings and meetings as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience required.
- Native or near-native fluency in Cantonese.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching and/or tutoring experience of a foreign language.
- Tutoring experience in self-instructional model courses.
- Tutoring experience in online environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in second-language teaching.
- Experience teaching all levels of foreign language courses.
- Certification related to second-language teaching.
