About the role
The Cancer Program Coordinator, ODS-C (CPC-ODS-C) is responsible for collaborating with the appropriate health care team in ensuring documented patient care for patients undergoing cancer treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy) from diagnosis through post therapy follow-up as part of the cancer program requirements ensuring accuracy and compliance with recommended guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the appropriate health care team to ensure documented patient care for patients undergoing cancer treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy) from diagnosis through post therapy follow-up as part of the cancer program requirements ensuring accuracy and compliance with recommended guidelines.
- Assess, implement, and evaluate the cancer program as it pertains to obtaining and maintaining accreditations.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure a high quality of care with excellent outcomes and seamless program integration and facilitate effective communication in meeting with the high standards set forth by the TGH Cancer Institute.
- Exercise independent judgement and utilize knowledge and skills to provide support services to specified oncology site departments working towards implementation of required standards to meet accreditation requirements.
- Oversee committee meetings, document minutes, support quality initiatives, generate reports, and foster collaboration among teams by sharing pertinent information to achieve further accreditations and maintain those once obtained.
- Understand the premise of all cancer data collected from Tampa General Hospital and assist in maintaining all regulatory compliance set forth by the state, federal, and national accrediting body requirements.
- Work in conjunction with the cancer registry in ensuring timely abstracting is processed for the specific site assigned and ensure that any RCRS/NCDB measures are followed and compliant.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree in science or a healthcare-related field
- Certification: Oncology Data Specialist (formally known as Certified Tumor Registrar)
- Experience: Five (5) years of relevant oncology registry work
- Knowledge: Knowledge of Cancer Registry software, EMR, & Florida Cancer Data System
