About the role
The Library Manager oversees the daily operations of the Camp Verde Community Library, ensuring high-quality public service and fostering a welcoming environment for all patrons. This position reports to the Town Manager and collaborates with town departments, library staff, volunteers, and the community to develop and implement library programs, services, and policies.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate all library operations, programs, and services.
- Develop and administer the library budget, including monitoring expenditures and preparing reports.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate library staff and volunteers.
- Oversee collection development, including selection, acquisition, and weeding of library materials.
- Coordinate and promote library programs and outreach initiatives for all age groups.
- Ensure the library complies with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Represent the library at town meetings, community events, and professional organizations.
- Maintain effective communication with town officials, staff, patrons, and the public.
- Develop and implement long-range plans and goals for the library in alignment with the town’s strategic objectives.
- Oversee facility maintenance, technology infrastructure, and security of the library.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional library experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in budget preparation and financial management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of current library trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to travel as needed for meetings, training, and conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a public library setting.
- Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS), preferably Horizon or Koha.
- Grant writing and fundraising experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency.
