CALTRANS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II
Multiple permanent, full-time positions available in Marin County.
About the role
Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor or designee, and with lead guidance from a Caltrans Leadworker, the Caltrans Equipment Operator II is responsible for the general maintenance of State highways, freeways, landscaped areas, and/or bridges. When not operating equipment, the incumbent may perform duties outlined for Caltrans Equipment Operator I, Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker, or Caltrans Landscape Maintenance Worker as part of normal duties.
Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and operate equipment requiring a Class A commercial driver’s license with tank endorsement.
- Perform general maintenance tasks on highways, freeways, landscaped areas, and bridges.
Requirements
- Valid California Class A commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
- Pass a drug screening prior to hire.
- Clear a background investigation prior to hire.
- Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
- If basing eligibility on education, include unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification. Unofficial, original, or official sealed transcripts will be accepted and may be required upon appointment.
- Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a U.S. equivalency evaluation report from a NACES or AICE approved agency.
Qualifications
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Equipment Operator II exam. For those new to state civil service employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible. Apply for the exam here by searching for the classification title.
Pay
$4,883.00 - $6,127.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
