About the role
Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will operate equipment, construction machinery, vehicles, and tools, and perform labor-intensive work associated with maintaining the state highway system, including during emergency operations. This position requires a valid unrestricted Class A commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment and construction machinery.
- Perform labor-intensive maintenance tasks on the state highway system.
- Respond to and assist during emergency operations.
- Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements.
Requirements
- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with Class A and Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
- Pass a drug screening prior to hire.
- Clear a background investigation prior to hire.
- Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Equipment Operator II exam. New or non-current state employees must be on the state examination list for eligibility.
Qualifications
Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview or appointment. If basing eligibility on education, unofficial transcripts or diplomas must be provided. Applicants with foreign transcripts must submit a U.S. equivalency evaluation report from a NACES or AICE approved agency.
Pay
$4,883.00 - $6,127.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, if applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position. In-office work location in Fresno County.
