About Northwest Physicians Group

Northwest Physicians Group formed in 2013 with a focus on population health management. The group has grown to a network of over 40 providers serving patients at numerous primary, specialty, and urgent care locations in and around Amarillo, Texas. Northwest Physicians Group is affiliated with Northwest Texas Healthcare System, a 495-bed acute care hospital that serves approximately 650,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region. The system provides acute care services including cardiac, pediatric, women’s, emergency, surgical, and behavioral healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls and schedule patient appointments.
  • Handle patient registration, insurance eligibility, appointment verification, and rescheduling.
  • Manage general telephone inquiries and provide effective customer service to patients and medical offices.
  • Maintain emotional stability, a calm disposition, and the ability to relate positively with professionals at all levels.
  • Adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.
  • Problem-solve, make decisions, and escalate calls to triage or supervising personnel as appropriate.
  • Exhibit professional appearance, reliability, tact, honesty, and discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Carry out specific assignments to successful conclusion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of medical office experience preferred.
  • Exceptional telephone manner and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic patient management systems.
  • Familiarity with administrative and clerical procedures, office systems, and terminology.
  • Proficiency with electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of office procedures and carry out tasks accordingly.
  • Ability to use CPM/EMR systems effectively.
  • Typing speed of 35 wpm with 90% accuracy.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible, organized, and able to function well under pressure.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus.
