About the Role

This full-time, year-round position is located at Silo Bakery, set inside the village of Amenia, New York. As the first face of our community's retail Bakery, you will provide an inviting experience for guests and members by crafting custom beverages and suggesting delicious baked goods and specialty pastries for retail sale. You will play a key role in creating the Discovery Land Company experience for members, guests, and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

• Welcome all guests warmly and provide hospitality with grace and style
• Craft a full line of warm and cold custom beverages daily, including coffees, teas, and smoothies
• Take counter orders, make recommendations, and build relationships with returning guests
• Maintain full knowledge of the product line, including regular items and specialties, and educate customers about ingredients and preparations
• Pay close attention to detail when taking and fulfilling orders
• Carefully package to-go orders with finesse
• Manage point-of-sale and cash purchases
• Maintain a clean and orderly café space, including production and guest-facing areas
• Restock counter areas as required

Requirements

• Proven experience in customer service
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and cash handling
• Knowledge of food allergies and dietary restrictions to meet unique guest needs
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions
• Knowledge of safe food handling (ServSafe certification)
• Effective communication with team members and guests
• High school diploma required; higher education preferred

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required due to business demands
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English; additional languages preferred
• Ability to meet physical demands, including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing and walking for periods exceeding eight hours, and lifting or carrying items over 50 pounds
