CAD Operator and Low Voltage Systems Designer

Job Summary

The CAD Operator and Low Voltage Systems Designer is responsible for creating 2D and 3D designs for fire protection and other low voltage system type projects. The individual participates in establishing timelines and budgets, solving problems during the project process, and supporting both internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create complete drawing and submittal packages for low voltage system projects as directed by the Construction Manager
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to develop and maintain drawing schedules and provide departmental support during the project process
  • Ensure all documents and designs are complete within budget constraints
  • Attend weekly meetings with Projects and Sales teams to coordinate efforts and share updates
  • Perform final material take-offs for devices and panel components to generate accurate bill of materials and update associated work orders in project management software
  • Prepare Owner Documentation packages, manage drawing storage and filing, and create system service files
  • Provide estimating support and technical expertise to the sales department as needed
  • Conduct field surveys to gather site data and verify system requirements
  • Maintain accurate time sheets for proper time allocation and project costing
  • Demonstrate punctuality and consistently provide a full day's work

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) or related field
  • Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of design software, especially AutoCAD and Visio
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use hands to operate computer equipment efficiently
  • Capability to make sound decisions based on design specifications and code requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively to solve problems and establish project timelines and budgets
  • Solid understanding of mathematics, engineering principles, and industry standards
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites as required
  • Proficiency in Windows environment and Microsoft Office suite
  • Reliable transportation is required to travel between office and field locations
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A team player with leadership qualities and a proactive, motivated attitude
  • Eagerness to learn and stay current with industry and engineering standards
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines and milestones
