About the role
As a CAD Operator / Designer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day design drawings for our low voltage electrical systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring systems are code-compliant, build-ready, and accurately reflect project requirements.
You’ll collaborate closely with technical representatives, sales teams, architects, engineers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to deliver precise drawings, submittals, and documentation for fire alarm, access control, security, and nurse call systems.
Responsibilities
- Create shop drawing plans for a wide range of low voltage systems using AutoCAD and design software.
- Analyze blueprints and survey existing structures to support accurate system design.
- Cook up technical submittals with architects, engineers, and AHJs.
- Perform site visits as required.
- Maintain strong communication with technical representatives and sales personnel.
- Produce Operations & Maintenance manuals and as-built drawings for installed systems.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience designing electronic systems and/or fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, IBC, IFC, IMC, and related codes.
- Proficient in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
- Knowledge of general construction practices and terminology.
- Able to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
Qualifications
- NICET Certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology – Fire Alarm Systems (preferred).
