CAAS Staff Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) department. Boulay offers accounting and consulting services, integrating business and owner strategies that help clients understand their impact on future success. Our team specializes in serving privately held owner-managed organizations, from start-ups to established small and mid-size businesses, by providing outsourced accounting services, including bookkeeping, controller, and CFO services.

The CAAS Staff Accountant assists clients with their internal accounting needs by performing and reviewing a variety of diversified accounting tasks. This includes working with multiple clients to process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll under the review of the engagement leader and owner. The role involves working independently at times and assisting clients with day-to-day accounting questions, as well as collaborating cross-departmentally to accomplish projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily transaction accounting activities, including:
  • Daily sales, bank, and other account reconciliations
  • Inventory management
  • Accrual and prepaid management
  • Equity accounting management
  • Accounts receivable and accounts payable management
  • Management of critical client deadlines
  • Payroll processing and preparation
  • Expense reimbursements
• Discuss and explain transactions/processes with clients in group or one-on-one settings as needed
• Identify and recognize potential risks, concerns, or issues regarding client files
• Maintain accounting records through data entry and file management
• Prepare complex sales and use tax returns
• Ensure compliance and adherence to relevant reporting requirements
• Maintain a chart of accounts
• Monitor and maintain fixed assets
• Prepare and review 1099 filings
• Prepare or assist in preparing financial statements
• Identify issues and communicate status updates with appropriate team members or Partners
• Maintain professional and appropriate conduct, representing the firm well in all work-related situations
• Follow all regulations and ethical standards set forth by the firm and governing bodies
• Develop an understanding of clients' business practices

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting
• 2+ years of related experience
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in various accounting and other software, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of all areas of the general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close procedures
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to drive client and team meetings
• Ability to creatively solve problems and analyze client data

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Experience with QuickBooks (desktop or online) and/or other general ledger software

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $60,000–$77,000. Final compensation may vary depending on an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Individuals may also be eligible for additional compensation such as incentives, commissions, or profit sharing.
