Pay

• Business Systems Analyst I: $36.34 to $58.03 hourly (Midpoint: $47.18)
• Business Systems Analyst II: $85,623 to $139,896 annually (Midpoint: $112,760)
• Business Systems Analyst III: $97,786 to $163,405 annually (Midpoint: $130,596)

Grant PUD posts the full hourly range for each position. The midpoint is provided as a reference point and is not a guaranteed starting pay. Starting pay is based on job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, internal alignment, and organizational needs. Most new hires are typically placed between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

About the Role

Grant PUD is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the analysis, design, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise technology solutions. This position partners with business and technology teams to understand business needs, improve business processes, and deliver technology solutions that align with organizational goals. Depending on qualifications and experience, the position may be filled at the Business Systems Analyst I, II, or III level, with increasing levels of independence, technical expertise, and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to compliance requirements, including laws, regulations, security guidelines, and Grant PUD policies & procedures.
• Actively participate in all aspects of the safety program, including following safety policies, reporting hazards, and accepting feedback on safety performance.
• If required, operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes in accordance with the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy (IS-TA-POL-001).

Business Systems Analyst I

• Collaborate with business users to understand needs, requirements, and capability gaps, and support the implementation of solutions to increase efficiency.
• Develop working knowledge of support systems to provide technical guidance and articulate system capabilities, dependencies, and constraints.
• Facilitate communications on process changes, enhancements, and modifications to ensure alignment and understanding.
• Participate in project teams by performing business process modeling, requirements analysis, solution wireframing, and quality assurance tasks.
• Develop or support test plans, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria; coordinate testing activities and lead user acceptance testing.
• Support multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and deliverables.
• Participate in technology reviews, identify risks, and recommend improvements to technology capabilities and business processes.
• Identify, recommend, and implement improvement opportunities within assigned systems and processes.

Business Systems Analyst II

• Partner with business users to understand needs, strategize, and implement solutions to increase efficiency and capabilities.
• Stay abreast of new technology, methodologies, and software roadmaps for supported systems.
• Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise on supported systems, including system capabilities, dependencies, and constraints.
• Work with Software Engineering and Technology Operations teams to design, develop, and maintain user interfaces, templates, data models, and data transformations.
• Translate business requirements into software requirements by gathering input from multiple stakeholders.
• Analyze requirements, construct workflow charts, study system capabilities, and write specifications based on functional and non-functional requirements.
• Analyze current business processes and recommend improvements based on industry trends and professional knowledge.
• Facilitate communications on process changes, enhancements, and modifications.
• Lead business analysis activities, including business process modeling, requirements gathering, and quality assurance tasks.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate system, integration, and user acceptance testing activities.
• Recommend and implement changes to business processes to utilize new system capabilities.
• Lead or serve as a project manager on small to medium technology projects.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement continuous improvement opportunities within assigned systems and functional areas.
• Develop and maintain business, functional, and technical documentation to support solution implementation and knowledge transfer.

Business Systems Analyst III

• Partner with business users to understand needs, strategize, and implement solutions to increase efficiency and capabilities.
• Maintain expertise in supported technologies by staying abreast of new technology, industry best practices, and software roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for the supported systems portfolio, advising on system capabilities, dependencies, and implementation approaches.
• Serve as the technical expert in supported applications, understanding how solutions are implemented, integrated, and deployed.
• Work with Software Engineering and Technology Operations teams to design, develop, and maintain user interfaces, templates, data models, and data transformations.
• Translate business needs into functional and technical software solution requirements through collaboration with stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration between business and technology teams to deliver IT projects successfully.
• Design new software/system solutions by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts, wireframes, and writing specifications.
• Analyze complex business processes and provide recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and professional knowledge.
• Facilitate communications on process changes, enhancements, and modifications.
• Lead Business Systems Analyst I-II work in project teams, including business process modeling, requirements gathering, and quality assurance tasks.
• Lead planning, coordination, and facilitation of system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Conduct root cause analysis on reported problems, identify capability gaps, and recommend efficiency improvements and growth strategies.
• Recommend and implement changes to business processes to utilize new system capabilities.
• Lead or facilitate technology reviews to ensure solutions align with business objectives and technology standards.
• Coordinate with software vendors, systems integrators, and support teams, serving as the primary liaison between business users and vendor support.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities for the job function.
• Engage in larger department transformation initiatives to improve quality and professionalism of work.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Business Systems Analyst I-II through mentoring, reviewing complex work products, and sharing best practices.
• Partner with vendors and Grant PUD technical resources to troubleshoot complex issues, including reviewing code, unit testing, and data analysis.
• Lead small to medium technology projects and support Enterprise Technology Project Managers on larger projects.

Requirements

Business Systems Analyst I

• Bachelor’s degree OR two (2) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• One (1) year of experience in analytical, data management, reporting, contract administration, compliance, financial tracking, or other directly related business experience.

Business Systems Analyst II

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related technical degree, OR two (2) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.

Business Systems Analyst III

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related technical degree, OR four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Five (5) years of experience in business systems analysis, software development, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience leading or mentoring junior team members.
