Business Systems Analyst – Cascade Application (Hybrid)

Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is seeking a Business Systems Analyst for their Vancouver, Washington location. This role supports the Transmission Field Services organization within the Business Controls and Information group, focusing on maintaining an accessible, reliable, and comprehensive asset register. The position involves collaborating with the Work Planning and Evaluation Group to develop maintenance plans and providing critical information to the Reliability Centered Management group.

About the role

This hybrid, one-year renewable contract position includes employee benefits. The Business Systems Analyst will analyze and document existing processes, facilitate future state process design and re-engineering, perform data gathering and analysis, write business requirements, and participate in change management activities to support business transformation.

Responsibilities

• Provide Cascade technical support for all users, with emphasis on Power System Control (PSC), Substation Maintenance, System Protection Control (SPC), and Transmission Line Maintenance (TLM).
• Communicate ongoing updates to customers and stakeholders, including process changes, system usage support, and task status.
• Work on varied and complex tasks supporting the implementation of new or upgraded tools and business processes.
• Train and mentor new and existing personnel on the ADM team and other system users regarding configuration changes.
• Make complex changes to the core configuration of Cascade, with manager oversight, to meet Transmission Organization needs.
• Analyze non-routine change requests and recommend sustainable configuration changes to data systems.
• Design and perform user acceptance testing to validate upgrades and enhancements.
• Perform system configuration changes, maintenance order management, and data updates within TF Operations & Maintenance asset and work management systems.
• Apply specialized skills to perform data analysis, document trends, and present findings to the ADM team.
• Plan and facilitate working sessions to elicit requirements, analyze current state processes, and design future state processes.
• Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences in individual and group settings.
• Decompose high-level information into details and abstract low-level information to resolve solution vs. requirements conflicts.
• Provide analytical support and objective data to assist in resolving conflicting priorities or stakeholder concerns.
• Evaluate business process change impacts and recommend mitigation activities; support change management efforts.
• Use diagrams and tools (e.g., Visio) to explain and simplify complex problems.
• Collect, organize, and validate data; model results to verify completeness, accuracy, and quality.
• Interpret modeling results and propose alternative courses of action.
• Facilitate assigned process improvement, development, and data analysis projects under manager direction.

Requirements

• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Systems, or a related technical field is preferred.
• With an applicable bachelor’s degree: 5 years of experience required.
• With an applicable associate’s degree: 7 years of experience required.
• Without an applicable degree: 9 years of experience required.
• Experience should include a combination of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training, progressively more technical in nature.
• 5 years of demonstrated work-related analyst experience.
• Specific experience conceptualizing and planning initiatives for data integration, gathering, and organization.
