About the Role

Under general direction of the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), Enterprise Architecture IT Manager I, the Business Solution Architect demonstrates leadership and expertise in enterprise gaming-related functions. This role ensures alignment between California State Lottery (Lottery) business and IT systems with the organization’s strategic goals. Responsibilities focus on business architecture, including current and future state analysis, business capability analysis, use case analysis, and understanding the IT landscape by business area.

Duties span Business Technology Management, IT Project Management, Software, and System Engineering domains, with potential assignments in other domains as needed. The position is headquartered in Sacramento and eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must reside in California and may be required to report to the headquarters office as assigned. Travel expenses to and from the headquarters are the employee’s responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current and future business states to align IT systems with organizational goals.
• Perform business capability and use case analysis.
• Assess the IT landscape by business area to ensure strategic alignment.
• Lead and contribute to projects in Business Technology Management, IT Project Management, Software, and System Engineering.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive enterprise-wide solutions.

Requirements

• Current Information Technology Specialist II exam eligibility (or ability to obtain it).
• Experience and education meeting the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification for INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST II.
• Ability to demonstrate the Desirable Qualifications identified in the job posting.
• Must clear a Background Investigation prior to hire (no felony or gambling-related convictions).
• If basing eligibility on education, provide transcripts (unofficial accepted for application; official required upon appointment). Foreign transcripts must include an evaluation indicating equivalent units.

Pay

Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and excluded state employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave hours each month.
