Core Responsibilities
- Business Service Center Specialist I:
- Administers and monitors financial and business transaction processes.
- Processes business, financial, and payroll/personnel-related transactions into various university software systems.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to post entries to accounts in an automated finance system.
- Allocates expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, receivables, etc., based on reports and schedules.
- Confers with the department for clarifications and specifications, and preferred supplies.
- Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Identifies and resolves issues, concerns, discrepancies, problems, and inconsistencies.
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and ensures the safety of all confidential and sensitive information.
- Acts as a liaison between departments and internal or external customers.
- Manages client expectations and provides consistent client updates.
- Communicates and coordinates with internal departments as needed to resolve client issues.
- Business Service Center Specialist II:
- Receives, reviews, analyzes, and processes complex business, financial, and payroll/personnel-related transactions.
- Prepares, analyzes, and creates statistical, financial, and related ad hoc reports.
- Reviews budgets for accuracy and compliance with procedures and regulations.
- Allocates expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables based on reports and schedules.
- Reviews and processes requisitions, and confers with the department for clarifications, specifications, and preferred supplies.
- Collaborates closely with Human Resource Services regarding employee relations and compensation matters.
- Engages with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Collaborates and coordinates with internal departments as needed to resolve client issues.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience for Business Service Center Specialist I.
- Five (5) years of related work experience for Business Service Center Specialist II.
