About the Ambient Air Team

Ambient Air Monitoring is part of our Testing & Analysis segment. Our team designs and implements ambient air monitoring programs that deliver real-time, defensible data across fenceline and community environments—combining real-time monitoring technologies, in-house laboratory analysis, mobile and fixed-site systems, and an integrated environmental data platform. Clients in highly regulated industries such as chemical, energy, government, manufacturing, methane, and solid waste rely on our expertise to meet regulatory requirements, communicate transparently with regulators and communities, and act quickly on air quality data.

About the Role

We are seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to expand our business through outreaching prospective clients and providing sales operations support to the Ambient Air Business Development Team. A BDR is the frontline of our sales organization, responsible for identifying and qualifying potential leads, nurturing relationships, and setting appointments for our Business Development Representatives. You will play a crucial role in building our sales pipeline and driving growth through our Lead-to-Revenue lifecycle. You will also learn the ins and outs of the business by assisting Business Development Representatives with tasks vital to the sales process, such as drafting client-facing materials and securing Purchase Orders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Ambient Business Development team with sales operations tasks, such as maintaining CRM hygiene and keeping customer records up to date.
  • Work closely across teams to develop and execute on a sales business plan to meet or exceed the assigned sales quota.
  • Prospect and identify new accounts from Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) and leverage the latest prospecting software platforms to connect the Ambient Business Development team with prospects.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and tailor outreach accordingly.
  • Conduct cold outreach through calls, email, and social selling to generate new business opportunities and increase sales pipeline.
  • Utilize sales technology to meet outreach activity goals and maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system.
  • Serve as the first point of contact between prospects and the Ambient Business Development Team to set sales meetings and demos with prospects.
  • Stay up to date on industry-specific events and regulations.
  • Identify target accounts and build and maintain prospect lists aligned to segment growth priorities.
  • Conduct market, prospect, and client research to inform outreach and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Support opportunity search and pipeline forecasting for the Ambient Business Development team.
  • Develop outreach messaging and multi-touch sequences tailored to target personas and industries.
  • Build and manage sales engagement campaigns and cadences, tracking activity and results in the CRM.
  • Follow up on inbound leads promptly and route them to the appropriate Business Development Representative.
  • Qualify, score, and prioritize leads so the team focuses effort on the highest-value opportunities.
  • Follow up on event and campaign leads to convert marketing activity into qualified opportunities.
  • Re-engage dormant accounts and stalled opportunities to reopen conversations and rebuild pipeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; environmental sciences or other life science preferred.
  • Lead generation and business development: The ability to proactively prospect, pursue, and qualify leads, and assemble talking points, introductory emails, and prospecting scripts.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Disciplined sales hygiene: Proactively engage in high-quality sales administration activities, consistently using our CRM (Salesforce) as the primary source of truth.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; knowledge of sales tools like Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and/or ZoomInfo is strongly desired.

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
