About the role
The primary role of the BD is to prospect for new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential clients. Included in this is to stay alert to announcements of new projects within the sector to allow for timely contact with relevant parties, with emphasis on identification and contact of decision maker(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
- Daily Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
- Identify potential clients and the decision makers within the client organization.
- Research, plan for and help build relationships with new clients.
- Set up meetings between client decision makers and appropriate company’s sales and technical resources.
- Plan approaches and pitches – work with the team to develop proposals and presentations that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
- Present an image that mirrors that of the client as appropriate.
- Working with the sales/technical team as needed, present new products, systems, and services and enhance existing relationships.
- Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
- Identify opportunities for companies and other marketing strategies, working in conjunction with and overseeing marketing resources and implementation.
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
- Track and record activity on accounts and help close deals to meet these targets.
- Ensure all team members represent company in the best light.
- Present business development training and mentoring to internal staff.
- Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
- As Needed, work with accounting function within company (or others as appropriate) to ensure prerequisites (ex. Prequalification’s) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
- Twice Weekly Cold call as appropriate with market to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities, taking full advantage of networking to meet potential clients.
- Monthly Present to and consult with senior management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products and channels for providing same (i.e. partnerships, etc).
- Submit timely progress reports and ensure accuracy of data.
- Ensure data is accurately entered and managed on a monthly report.
- Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
- Five/Six Times Per Year Attend industry functions and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
