Responsibilities

  • Introduce and promote new customers to Butler Machinery Company and our products.
  • Build strong personal relationships with customers focusing on long term mutual growth by becoming their primary point-of-contact at the dealership.
  • Promote new and used CAT construction equipment and Massey Ferguson compact tractors and attachments as well as our rental equipment solutions.
  • Deliver and demonstrate equipment features and communicate their value to customers on a jobsite or at their home in real-world conditions.
  • Inspect and survey potential equipment trade-ins.
  • Provide customers with real solutions to meet their needs based on your understanding of how our products and services bring value to their operation.
  • Provide world class customer service.
  • Sell parts, service and Customer Value Agreements (CVAs).
  • Build customer loyalty by following up on service or parts orders, ensuring requests are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in and contribute to training and obtain required vendor certifications as requested.
  • Meet with your coworkers and management to present and overcome obstacles, learn new skills and grow professionally.
  • Establish new accounts and achieve activity minimums on assigned accounts.
  • Maintain an understanding of competitors and awareness of different forms of construction phases to be able to identify various sales opportunities.
  • Handle after hour and emergency calls on evenings and weekends via company provided phone.
  • Participate in and operate booths at trade shows, home shows and other customer outreach events.
  • Work within and promote the vision, mission and values of BMC.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the local construction industry.
  • Sales training and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of BCP Caterpillar and related/competitive product lines preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and equipment financing.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft products).
  • Excellent self-motivation.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours (evenings) as needed.
  • A good driving record is required.
  • Pre-employment drug testing is conducted.
  • CDL is preferred or willingness to obtain
