About the role

The Atlantic Region Property and Casualty practice, located in Boston MA and Burlington VT, specializes in actuarial consulting services for insurance, reinsurance, ILS, and alternative-risk markets. We collaborate with a diverse array of clients including self-insured corporations, commercial insurance companies, governmental agencies, risk pools, and financial investors. Our team uses advanced Milliman products and tools to innovate in our professional niches and forge trusted partnerships to enhance the financial stability of individuals and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Organize business development activities across the practice (e.g., active prospects, content and collateral, areas of expertise, etc.)
  • Partner with internal segment leads to design marketing strategies, then manage execution to generate leads and prospects
  • Research companies and organizations, using publicly available data and market knowledge to identify issues and opportunities, and develop lists of probable leads and contacts
  • Work with practice consultants and Milliman's Business Development team to generate targeted prospect lists such as conference attendees; arrange in-person meetings; follow up with targeted communication
  • Aid in developing proposals, marketing content and collateral pieces
  • Provide quarterly updates of business development activity to practice leadership
  • Attend conferences and sit in on visits with prospects, supporting various business development initiatives
  • Collaborate with other Milliman disciplines to build a high-quality pipeline of opportunities and drive revenue growth

Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher at the time of application
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in business development support
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with client prospects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to use AI tools such as ChatGPT to fine-tune original communications
  • Substantial experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)

  • Able to ascertain a prospect’s true need and identify a business opportunity
  • Superb attention to detail and dedication to technical accuracy
  • Strong organization skills, particularly when balancing numerous concurrent deadlines and deliverables, projects with varying timelines, and multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to put in extra effort when required
  • Demonstrated leadership and creative thinking abilities
  • Intellectual curiosity about the topics of risk, Milliman, and the work of our practice
  • Self-starter, with excellent time management including collaboration across time zones

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • Education in economics, business, sales, marketing
  • Experience in insurance industry (ideally P&C)
  • Exposure to actuarial concepts such as pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, capital modeling, enterprise risk management, and/or reinsurance-related actuarial topics for North American and/or European companies
