Business and Facilities Real Estate Associate Attorney

Responsibilities

  • Lead legal oversight of real property acquisition and disposition transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and other regulatory obligations for such transactions.
  • Review title, zoning, easements, and property-related due diligence.
  • Provide legal oversight for facilities operations.
  • Review and negotiate facility-related vendor agreements and service contracts.
  • Support school site renovations, relocations, and capital improvement projects.
  • Draft and review public bidding documents and negotiate the resulting contracts.
  • Ensure contract terms appropriately address liability, indemnification, and school district specific interests.
  • Ensure compliance with competitive bidding and public entity procurement requirements.
  • Resolve disputes involving leases, vendors and parties providing equipment, supplies, or services to a district.

Requirements

  • Three (3) - five (5) years of practice experience.
  • Commercial real estate transactions.
  • Corporate contracts.
  • Business operations law.
  • Facilities or property management legal matters.
  • Candidates must be a member of the State Bar of California.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school required.
  • Strong experience negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience managing vendor negotiations and procurement agreements preferred.
  • Prior experience in professional services or law firm environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial real estate law and leasing strategy.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business judgment and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues coherently to district administrators.
  • Strong project management and organizational planning skills.
  • Ability to balance legal protection with practical business solutions.
  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality.
