Business Analytics Manager - Remote
About the role
The Business Analytics Manager at The Wine Group is an integral part of the Insights Center of Excellence (COE), which supports the organization through a three-pillar model: Business Intelligence (BI) / Reporting, Training & Adoption, and Consulting. This role primarily focuses on Business Intelligence, reporting, training, and adoption, working cross-functionally with the broader COE, IT, and Commercial teams. You will develop a strong understanding of the organization’s decision-making needs and data infrastructure, utilizing data from internal and external sources, including third-party vendors like Circana, Nielsen, and VIP. This role is eligible for remote work and reports to the Director of Business Analytics.
Responsibilities
- Reporting / Visualization - Design, Update, and Maintenance
- Design and develop dashboards and a suite of reports routinely managed, updated, and presented to sales teams, marketing teams, and company leadership.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their information and insight needs, translating them into intuitive and actionable reporting.
- Demonstrate advanced Excel knowledge, including mathematical, logical, text, and reference formulas.
- Utilize PowerBI as a modern reporting platform, focusing on report consistency, accuracy, ease of use, and adoption.
- Leverage DAX, SQL queries, and PowerQuery for report generation and automation.
- Drive report adoption through live or virtual trainings, explaining key metric definitions, report capabilities, and analysis outcomes.
- Data Management
- Manage and improve data governance to ensure high levels of data accuracy and user trust.
- Monitor the COE Support system to interpret, investigate, and resolve data issues while communicating status updates to end users.
- Apply advanced data analysis knowledge across multiple reports, platforms, and sources.
- Understand basic relational database modeling functions (e.g., fact and dimension tables, schemas, unique keys, and joins).
- Compile data from various sources, reconcile granularity differences, and provide meaningful analysis.
- Partner with IT to develop and enforce governance policies.
- Communicate effectively with the commercial organization to gather report requirements, determine data sources, and define expected outputs.
- Work with IT and third-party vendors to communicate business requirements using relevant data terminology.
- Manage third-party data sources, including data validation and product/customer setups.
- Organizational Partnership
- Prepare and present data in a sales-ready format aligned with business objectives communicated by stakeholders.
- Communicate nuanced information concisely and efficiently in an executive summary style for audiences with varying technical acumen.
- Partner with the Director of Business Analytics to prepare data for analysis, interpret results, and present findings to the commercial organization.
- Attend customer meetings as needed.
- Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
- Play an integral role in developing the company’s Annual Operating Plan in partnership with COE leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a quantitative or technical field.
- 5+ years of technical experience in data reporting.
- Expert knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerBI.
- Preference given to candidates with knowledge of CPG industry data sources like Circana, Nielsen, and VIP.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional integrity.
- Ability to execute multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
Physical Demands
- Primary work activities are within an office environment.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for team and customer meetings.
Pay
Hiring salary range: $111,700 - $130,000. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, and other position-related factors.
