Bush, Asahel, 1824-1913
Asahel Bush Jr. (1824–1913) was a publisher, banker, and Democratic political leader in Oregon. He sailed to Oregon via the Isthmus of Panama, arriving in Astoria and later Portland in 1850.
About the role
Bush became the editor and publisher of the Oregon Statesman, transferring the printing plant to Salem in 1853. In 1868, he co-founded the Salem, Ladd & Bush Bank with W.S. Ladd. His career spanned journalism, banking, and political leadership in 19th-century Oregon.
