About the role

The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students, particularly those with special needs. This role involves assisting students with special needs during transport to and from school and/or activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with special needs and other passengers, ensuring safe loading and unloading during both routine and emergency situations.
• Instruct students to enforce rules and regulations, maintaining their safety and well-being.
• Supervise students' needs until they are released to a teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc., ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
• Prepare reports (e.g., incident reports, passenger misconduct) to document activities and comply with established guidelines.
• Secure students and their equipment (e.g., restraints, wheelchair tie-downs, seat belts) to ensure their safety.
• Attend unit meetings, in-service training, and workshops to gather necessary information for job performance.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Job-related experience is desired.
• Skills: Preparing and maintaining accurate records, operating equipment used in transporting students with special needs, adherence to safety practices, basic math, understanding written procedures, safety practices and procedures.
• Abilities: Schedule activities, meetings, and events, work with a wide diversity of individuals, solve practical problems with data and equipment, maintain confidentiality, work as part of a team.

Pay

Pay Rates: Entry $16.00 | Intermediate $17.50 | Experienced $20.00
