BUS MONITOR

Essential Functions

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
• Maintains attendance records and assigns student seating; learns assigned bus route(s).
• Ensures the safe loading and unloading of students to and from destinations, to include operation of specialized equipment for attending to students with special needs, i.e., wheel chair lifts and tie-downs, toddler/infant seats and seat belts.
• Assists bus operators with pre- and post-bus inspection activities to ensure proper operating conditions, adherence to prescribed Department of Transportation standards, and compliance with proper safety standards.
• Performs routine cleaning and bus maintenance activities, to include attending to spills and cleaning of body fluids.
• Establishes and maintains effective communications and working relationships with bus operators, district personnel, school officials, and parents.

• Verbal Aptitude: Utilizes a wide variety of reference data and information.
• Mathematical Aptitude: Performs addition and subtraction.
• Functional Reasoning: Carries out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Situational Reasoning: Exercises judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.

Physical Ability

• Physical Ability Tasks: Regularly and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
