Bus Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Aid students in entering or exiting the bus safely.
  • Show the highest ethical standards and personal integrity; report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to a supervisor or manager.
  • Secure students using seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints as needed.
  • Maintain vigilance over passengers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and student conduct rules.
  • Communicate and apply discipline according to company policy when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old (19 in New York).
  • Meet physical and medical requirements.
  • Pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings to remain qualified.
  • Show attention to detail and dexterity to safely use various restraints and secure wheelchairs.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
