Building Standards Special Projects Lead

About the role

The California Energy Commission's Building Standards Branch seeks a Building Standards Special Projects Lead to influence the state's mandatory Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6) and voluntary CALGreen standards (Title 24, Part 11).

Responsibilities

• Independently manage major assignments and lead project teams.
• Respond to legislative requests and develop policy recommendations.
• Shape statewide energy-efficiency strategies.
• Represent the Energy Commission before state, federal, local, and industry bodies.
• Work closely with partner agencies, stakeholders, and the public to improve building efficiency, health, and cleanliness.

Requirements

• Strong building science background, particularly familiarity with passive house standards.
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts.
• Exceptional research and analytical skills, including building energy modeling.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work on time.
• Skilled communicator with the ability to draft and edit complex technical material.
• Team-oriented, organized, and collaborative.
• Comfortable working independently and contributing to shared goals.

Qualifications

• Passionate about building science, high-performance buildings, and energy policy.
• Experience with California's Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6) and CALGreen standards (Title 24, Part 11).
• Knowledge of building energy technologies, markets, and policies.

Pay

$8,983.00 - $11,115.00 per Month
