Building Repairer - Department of General Services

About the role

The Building Repairer class maintains and repairs the physical structures and utility systems of public buildings. The work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities and is performed in and outside of public buildings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the physical structures and utility systems of public buildings.
• Perform painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, or electrical work as needed.
• Work on ladders and scaffolds as necessary.

Requirements

• Education: Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
• Experience: Three years of experience in building repair and maintenance work, including experience in four of the five following trades: plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, or electrical work.
• Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.

Qualifications

• Additional experience in one of the five mentioned trades may substitute for up to one year of the high school or GED requirement.
• Possession of a City's driver's license within one year of employment.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of tools, materials, techniques, and equipment of painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, or electrical trades.
• Ability to perform painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, or electrical work.
• Ability to work on ladders and scaffolds.

Pay

SALARY RANGE: $43,823.00 - $49,062.00 Annually

Schedule

The work is performed in a conventional workweek.
