Pay: $14.40–$18.46/hour plus a $1.20/hour second-shift differential
About the Role
To perform independent cleaning, custodial, or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of one or multiple state facilities, buildings, or institutions. May include assignment to multiple units, areas, locations, or districts.
Responsibilities
- Perform light to medium physical custodial activities requiring use of arms, legs, and whole body (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling equipment and materials) to clean: dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, washing walls and glass, disinfecting.
- Perform routine building and facilities maintenance: change lightbulbs, adjust or replace fixtures, reset machinery or environmental systems.
- Remove snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; apply salt and sand as needed.
- Mow lawns, cut hedges, and trim grass.
- Move beds, furniture, equipment, partitions, materials, or supplies manually or with hand trucks.
- Inspect cleaning tools/equipment and replace or repair as needed; monitor building mechanical, safety, or environmental systems and report issues to supervisor.
- Apply solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; remove and dispose of contaminated and non-contaminated waste according to health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- 8th grade education or equivalent.
- Each additional year of formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience, and vice versa.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing cleaning services for a large complex or building.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal directions.
