Bridge Repair Assistant Trainee 1/Trainee 2/Bridge Repair Assistant 1 (Region7)

Responsibilities

• Cut steel plates and bars using acetylene cutting equipment according to layout design and instructions, and grind edges of material for welding.
• Use hand tools to scrape and scale deteriorated paint from structural steel, then apply primer and proper overcoat.
• Operate a variety of light highway equipment such as dump trucks, patching machines, and rollers used in bridge repair and maintenance operations.
• Perform snow and ice operations in areas other than the primary work location, with the ability to report within a maximum of one hour of call-up.
• Serve a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Cannabis use is not permitted for employees in this title and assignment. It will be tested for during the pre-employment screening process and may result in disqualification or removal from employment.

Requirements

• Journey Level: Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesman, or completion of a technical course in a bridge or technical trade at a school or institute. Requires a Class B Commercial Driver License.
• Trainee 2: Commercial Driver License and more than one year but less than two years of qualifying experience (as described in journey level qualifications).
• Trainee 1: Class D Motor Vehicle License and less than one year of qualifying experience (as described in journey level qualifications).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Pay

• Bridge Repair Assistant Trainee 1: Starting salary of $48,855 (base salary $39,855 + $9,000 geographic pay differential).
• Bridge Repair Assistant Trainee 2: Starting salary of $51,058 (base salary $42,058 + $9,000 geographic pay differential).
• Bridge Repair Assistant: Starting salary of $55,905 (base salary $46,905 + $9,000 geographic pay differential).
