Job Summary

Journey Group is a full-service construction group based in Sioux Falls, S.D., with divisions covering various construction sectors. They are seeking a full-time Bridge Construction Assistant Superintendent to join their SFC Civil Constructors division.

Responsibilities

  • Take on increasing responsibility for daily civil construction operations while observing and learning from experienced team members.
  • Aid in project planning, including cost analysis, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Organize and maintain an efficient job site, including material storage, equipment placement, parking, and daily activity reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, best management practices, erosion control, and required inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with Superintendents, Project Managers, owners, designers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve construction conflicts.
  • Support a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, safety meetings, and observations while maintaining confidentiality in all operations.

Requirements

  • Technical education or 3 years' work experience in construction, or a combination of education and experience meeting essential job functions.
  • Ability to read plans/specs and follow OSHA-required safe work practices.
  • Strong heavy-equipment knowledge and safe, efficient work coordination.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based reporting/maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Valid driver's license required; must be 18+ to work in a construction environment.
  • Ability to travel in and around South Dakota!

Qualifications

  • Must be able to consistently move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly on job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange accurate information consistently.
  • Works in outdoor weather conditions around 8-12 hours a day.
  • Must be able to retain a stationary position for extended periods of time occasionally depending on the task.
  • Must be able to transfer materials ranging from the ground to overhead frequently.
  • Must be able to safely use hand and power tools.
