About the role

Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at University of Chicago Medicine as a Radiology Breast Imaging Sonographer in the Radiology Department.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competencies in Breast Imaging Interpretation skills to facilitate a comprehensive examination and an accurate presentation during radiologist review
• Participate and actively assist Physician/PA/APN with performance, scheduling of inpatient orders and correcting orders for biopsy procedures
• Independently perform all imaging studies
• Utilize EPIC to begin exams, end exams, add supply charges, verify orders, change orders as necessary and review patient chart for pertinent history
• Demonstrates responsibility for reviewing orders, recognizing correct orders based on clinical questions, and actively works to obtain orders for exams as necessary
• Active participation in department workflow with Team Lead to ensure timely completion of exams
• Properly utilize PACS for image presentation
• Exam completion volume commensurable with team members
• Actively participates in exam quality assurance by performing exams following department protocols as directed by the department Radiologist, Imaging Center Manager or Imaging Team Leader
• Recognizes, reports, and documents malfunctions of technical equipment
• Maintains physical work environment following MDI process to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies

Requirements

Maintain a quality review score at or above 85%

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalency required
• Satisfactory completion of formal Ultrasound training program through a CAAHEP approved school
• ARDMS or ARRT registered in Breast (B) ultrasound OR registered within one year of hire
• Minimum 1 year experience in breast imaging
• American Heart Association CPR/BLS training required
• Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required
• Handle high pressure, fast paced work environment
• Excellent teamwork
