Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records by processing routine bookkeeping transactions and reviewing entries for accuracy.
- Oversee accounts payable activities, including verifying invoices, preparing payments, and ensuring expenses are recorded in the proper periods.
- Manage accounts receivable functions by issuing invoices, tracking incoming payments, and following up on outstanding balances as needed.
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies, resolve variances, and support accurate month-end reporting.
- Use accounting platforms such as QuickBooks and OGsys to enter, update, and organize financial data efficiently.
- Support Joint Interest Billing processes by reviewing allocations, preparing billing information, and maintaining supporting documentation.
- Aid in financial reporting and provide clear records that help leadership monitor account activity and cash flow.
- Help maintain consistent accounting procedures and support updates to financial records when systems or processes change.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of bookkeeping experience in a business or accounting environment.
- Hands-on experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and the ability to navigate accounting software confidently.
- Experience using OGsys and familiarity with Joint Interest Billing (JIB) processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across high-volume financial transactions.
- Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and addressing financial questions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is essential. Familiarity with JIB processes and other joint interest billing systems is beneficial.
