Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities and keep financial records current, organized, and accurate.
- Review vendor invoices, code expenses appropriately, and prepare payments in alignment with established processing timelines.
- Administer bi-monthly payroll for a workforce of about 50 employees, verifying details before checks are issued.
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card activity, and selected balance sheet accounts to maintain reliable financial data.
- Auxiliary general ledger upkeep by recording entries, supporting account classification, and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain payroll documentation and employee compensation records with a high level of confidentiality and precision.
- Contribute to month-end close activities by organizing supporting data, tracking expenses, and helping prepare internal reporting.
- Serve as a point of contact for payment and accounting questions from vendors and internal team members.
- Use Excel and related accounting systems to manage recurring financial processes and improve accuracy in recordkeeping.
Requirements
- Previous bookkeeping experience is required.
- Hands-on background in payroll processing is required, ideally for a small to mid-sized employee population.
- Practical experience managing accounts payable functions is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required for tracking, reconciliation, and financial support tasks.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across payroll, invoices, and reconciliations.
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines, organize priorities effectively, and work dependably on a part-time schedule.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently while handling confidential financial information.
- Experience with ADP payroll systems and familiarity with accounting platforms such as Delktek or Sympaq are preferred.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. Certified Bookkeeper certification is a plus.
