As a Body Shop Technician with Penske, you’ll perform minor truck and trailer collision repairs, and with supervision some major repairs too. Responsibilities
- Perform minor electrical system repairs
- Surface preparation for refinishes
- Minor cab accessory repair/replacement
- Minor cargo box repairs
- Under supervision, perform minor truck and trailer component repair or replacement
- Assist Technician I and II in the removal, replacement, and repair of major components
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- 2 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of related education and experience) preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational/technical school preferred
- Certification of completion of technical school specializing in the repair/refinish of all series of truck and trailer preferred
- Working knowledge of tools of trade (including welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines, and power tools) preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Basic computer skills required
- Must comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management
- Must adhere to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practices
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Must maintain a current driver qualification file, including annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records from prior employers in the last 3 years
- CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at the specific location required
- Must complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required
- Must accept responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others
Physical Requirements
- Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
- Routine and daily use of hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, or operate tools and controls
- Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated working platforms
- Ability to work safely in all weather conditions
- Must be able to see and hear to safely navigate the work environment with frequent movement of large trucks
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg
- Ability to push/pull truck tires on a regular basis that exceed 100 pounds
Pay
$23.73–$26.55 per hour
