Body Shop Technician

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Body Shop Technician to join our team in Joliet. In this role, you will play an essential part in maintaining and repairing body damage to our assets, ensuring a clean and safe work environment, and adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring the body shop is clean, organized, and compliant with all OSHA/EPA regulations and safety standards.
• Perform body repairs, panel replacements, and structural repairs to assets as directed by management.
• Coordinate with the Parts Department and management to ensure necessary parts are ordered and readily available for repairs.
• Assist in maintaining and improving the body shop work area to maximize efficiency and safety.
• Utilize hand tools, welding equipment, and torches effectively and safely to complete repair work.
• Document repairs, replacements, and services with accurate descriptions and details on work orders.
• Move equipment around the yard and shop as needed for repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Always use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and understand its application for different tasks.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in body repair, maintenance, and technical repair work.
• Proficient in body repairs, panel replacement, and structural repairs.
• Welding, torch, and brazing skills required.
• Ability to operate hand tools and welding equipment safely.
• Knowledge of the proper use of PPE.
• Ability to work in various weather and temperature conditions, and move equipment around yard and shop areas.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective communication with management, parts staff, and team members.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assist with other maintenance tasks as needed.
• Must be reliable, have a strong work ethic, and pay close attention to detail.
