The Role
Abrasive Blasters will be trained in surface preparation techniques by operating blast equipment designed to create an optimal profile on steel structures, ensuring proper adhesion of coating treatments to metal surfaces. Training will cover the use, maintenance, and safe operation of company-provided blast equipment. Abrasive Blasters should be able to learn and perform blast operations safely in various environments, including tanks and voids, as well as elevated heights using staging, scaffolding, and lifting equipment such as hoists and scissor lifts.
Must Have
- Willing to undergo a background investigation and drug screen
- Able to pass physical agility test
- Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb on a daily basis
- Able to lift at least 40 pounds
- Able to perform overhead work
- Able to work at extreme heights
- Able to perform work outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions
- Able to work in small, tight, confined spaces
- Able to take measurements or be willing to learn
- Willing to work in radiation areas, but with the appropriate training and equipment
- Able to be clean shaven to wear a respirator
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Willing to work any shift
