About the Department

The College of Mathematics and Science has 127 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty across 5 academic departments and the Schools of Engineering and Nursing. The College serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students in 30 majors and offers graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering, Computational Science, and Nursing. The College holds accreditation from ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. UCO is an institutional member of the Council on Undergraduate Research.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate physiology courses, majors and nonmajors introductory biology courses, and other courses as needed.
  • Engage in collaborative student-centered research.
  • Contribute to transformative learning and research within the Biology Department.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biology or related field required; ABD considered (Ph.D. must be completed by June 2027).
  • Demonstrable oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching and research expertise in ichthyology, aquatic physiology, aquatic ecology, or fisheries biology.
  • Experience teaching and directing research at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff.
