Billing Auditor, full-time-Remote

About the Role
The Billing Auditor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of commercial hospital billing claims. This position plays an important role in maintaining financial accuracy, meeting departmental goals, and ensuring claims are properly prepared, submitted, and resolved. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of payer requirements, and the ability to research and correct billing issues while maintaining accurate account documentation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate patient account information.
- Correct accounts to ensure proper and timely billing.
- Monitor billing reports and follow up to ensure claims are processed within required timeframes.
- Process Medicaid Remittance Advices and make appropriate account adjustments.
- Rebill insurance companies when necessary.
- Prepare and submit secondary payer claims promptly.
- Research and resolve late charges, credits, and other account discrepancies.
- Document actions taken on accounts and schedule appropriate follow-ups.
- Coordinate required documentation between payers, medical records, and other departments.
- Collaborate with system operations teams to identify and resolve billing and processing issues.
- Monitor claim rejections and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve billing processes and accuracy.
- Verify that claims have been successfully received by payers.
- Provide coverage and support for other billing staff as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of healthcare business office experience.
- Experience working with organizational and payer billing requirements.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with Meditech, SSI, Optical Storage System, PCs, and Windows.
- Ability to accurately read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good credit rating.
Pay
$20.00–$28.87 per hour, depending on education, skills, experience, and other relevant qualifications.
