Benefits Supervisor
The Benefits Supervisor leads the administration of employee benefits, wellness initiatives, and related programs while supervising a benefits team. This role provides subject matter expertise, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives continuous improvement through collaboration with vendors and HR leadership.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day oversight of benefits administration, serving as the primary escalation point for complex employee issues and vendor concerns
- Partner with vendors and third-party administrators to deliver benefit programs
- Lead / support the implementation of new benefit vendors or programs
- Oversee the defined benefit pension plan (Ohio CAT Employees’ Pension Plan), ensuring compliant and accurate administration
- Oversee leave of absence (LOA) administration, ensuring compliance with federal/state regulations, accurate processing, and timely resolution of escalated issues
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes
- Oversee and audit monthly vendor billing for accuracy and reconciliation
- Manage the company’s annual benefits renewal process
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of employee benefit programs
- Collaborate and cultivate relationships with Payroll, IT, and third-party vendors
- Drive wellness program strategy, engagement, and vendor partnerships
- Supervise, coach, and mentor the benefits team by assigning tasks, reviewing work for accuracy, and training new team members on benefits processes
- Lead employee communication and education efforts, including open enrollment strategy and ongoing benefits awareness initiatives
- Ensure all programs, policies, and procedures comply with current legislation
Minimum Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources, or related field is required
- Minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in benefits administration, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
- CEBS/SHRM-CP/PHR Certification is a plus
- Must be proficient in mandated benefit compliance by Federal and State regulations such as ACA, ERISA, COBRA, Section 125, etc.
- Able to maintain multiple priorities and maintain compliance deadlines required
- Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs and language
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written, presentation skills, organizational, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills are all required
- Able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality through knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask
- Able to relate to all employees of Ohio Machinery and be empathetic to each employee’s situation
