About The Opportunity
This pivotal role offers an exciting chance for an HR professional to lead the administration and continuous improvement of comprehensive employee benefits programs. You will oversee health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, leave of absence programs, and workers’ compensation, collaborating with HR leadership, Finance, Payroll, legal teams, and external vendors to ensure programs remain competitive, compliant, and efficient.
Responsibilities
- Lead the administration and ongoing enhancement of employee health, welfare, retirement, leave of absence, and workers’ compensation programs.
- Manage annual Open Enrollment, including planning, communications, implementation, and employee support.
- Evaluate benefit offerings, market trends, and regulatory changes to recommend cost-effective program enhancements.
- Ensure timely and accurate administration of all benefit programs and employee transactions.
- Oversee Leave of Absence programs, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, vendor relationships, cost containment, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex employee leave and benefits issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
- Manage relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and other vendors.
- Monitor vendor performance and negotiate operational improvements.
- Conduct benefit audits and validate HRIS data for integrity and compliance.
- Oversee benefits invoicing, reconciliation, and payment processing.
- Analyze benefits utilization, program costs, and operational metrics for continuous improvement.
- Partner with Payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate employee data and reporting.
- Supervise and develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Provide expert guidance to employees and managers on benefit plans, leave administration, and workers’ compensation.
- Support employee wellness initiatives in partnership with HR leadership.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in Benefits Administration, Leave of Absence, and Workers’ Compensation.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs and regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
- Experience administering health and welfare plans, retirement programs, leave administration, and workers’ compensation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis).
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration systems.
- Ability to generate reports, reconcile benefits data, audit vendor files, and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) certification.
- 6–9 years of Benefits Administration experience.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience supporting HR technology initiatives and HRIS implementations.
