About The Opportunity

This pivotal role offers an exciting chance for an HR professional to lead the administration and continuous improvement of comprehensive employee benefits programs. You will be at the forefront of delivering an exceptional employee experience, overseeing health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, leave of absence programs, and workers’ compensation. Collaborating closely with HR leadership, Finance, Payroll, legal teams, and external vendors, you will ensure that programs remain competitive, fully compliant, and highly efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration and ongoing enhancement of employee health, welfare, retirement, leave of absence, and workers’ compensation programs.
  • Manage annual Open Enrollment, including comprehensive planning, communications, implementation, and dedicated employee support.
  • Continuously evaluate benefit offerings, market trends, and regulatory changes to recommend program enhancements that improve employee value while effectively controlling costs.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate administration of all benefit programs and employee transactions.
  • Oversee all Leave of Absence programs, ensuring strict compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, cultivate strong vendor relationships, drive cost containment initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for complex employee leave and benefits issues, providing expert resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
  • Manage relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and other benefits vendors, fostering productive partnerships.
  • Monitor vendor performance and negotiate operational improvements to maximize value and efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough benefit audits and validate human resources information system data to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee benefits invoicing, reconciliation, and payment processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, program costs, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and strategic enhancements.
  • Partner with Payroll and human resources information system teams to ensure accurate employee data and reporting.
  • Supervise and develop team members through effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Provide expert guidance to employees and managers regarding benefit plans, leave administration, and workers’ compensation.
  • Support employee wellness initiatives in partnership with HR leadership, contributing to a thriving workplace culture.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in Benefits Administration, Leave of Absence, and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs and applicable regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
  • Demonstrated experience administering health and welfare plans, retirement programs, leave administration, and workers’ compensation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Experience working with human resources information systems, payroll, and benefits administration systems.
  • Experience generating reports, reconciling benefits data, auditing vendor files, and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) certification.
  • 6–9 years of Benefits Administration experience.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting HR technology initiatives and human resources information system implementations.
