About the role

The Campaign Against Hunger, led by Dr. Melony Samuels, operates a new cafe and culinary arts center in the Rockaways. The center serves meals using locally sourced ingredients from their urban farms, local businesses, and provides educational opportunities for aspiring chefs.

Responsibilities

• Serve food to the community
• Help prepare meals using seasonal ingredients from urban farms and local businesses
• Assist with educational programs for aspiring chefs

Requirements

• Must be in or near Queens County, NY
• Available weekdays (daytime) and weekends (daytime)
• A few hours per week time commitment
• The cafe is open Monday to Saturday from 8AM to 5PM

Qualifications

• Volunteers are aged 15+
• Volunteers must be able to work on weekdays and weekends
• Volunteers should have a passion for serving the community and supporting local agriculture

Skills

• Basic cooking skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a team
