BCL - TUTOR I (TEMP)
About the role
The John H. and Patricia W. Mitchell Business Communication Lab (MBCL) at the College of Business has tutor-consultant openings for qualified applicants starting Fall, 2026. The MBCL is looking for consultants who are interested in tutoring written, verbal and digital business communication assignments at the undergraduate level. In a one-on-one environment at the COB's Mitchell Lab, tutors will coach students in a variety of audience-based communications. Sessions will be conducted in-person or virtually.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with and learn from others.
- Support undergraduate student business writers in digital, print and oral communications.
- Meet students remotely or in-person, as needed.
- Attend paid staff meetings and training.
- Assist with Lab programming, as needed.
- Maintain session records.
- Ensure confidentiality of student work in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Perform duties and maintain standards according to college policies, procedures, and values.
Qualifications
- Applicants must have already taken and successfully completed BA 330, Managerial Communication with a high B to A final course grade.
- Must be able to work well and collaboratively with peers.
- Multilingual students with expertise in English are especially encouraged to apply.
Pay
Starting pay is $15.00/hr.
